As your child’s first school experience, we endeavor to provide a learning environment that cultivates growth-- socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. We encourage their first steps toward independence and guide them in relationships with others. We cheer their growing capabilities, and strive to foster a curiosity in the world around them.
Inviting spaces and learning experiences are designed to encourage students to explore, grow and be adventurous in a community of friends. Materials and activities are chosen with the intention of actively involving children in learning through play, encouraging creative expression, and fostering wonder of our natural world.
Children are born creative and curious. They are tireless artists, storytellers and scientists. An educator's greatest challenge is to create a nurturing environment where children can play, explore, experiment, take risks, learn and grow.
Our days introduce students to a sense of routine, while providing generous blocks of time for children to choose between artistic pursuits, math, science, engineering and language experiences.
An important part of each day is our outdoor time, and we are fortunate to share the extensive playground and gardens of Springwater Environmental Sciences School (SESS). Daily outdoor adventures include rock climbing, digging in the sand pit, music in the sound garden, spinning, swinging, sliding and chasing after friends - rain or shine!
There are ample invitations to join others in imaginative and cooperative play. We gather in groups for stories and music and to practice speaking and listening, turn taking, and sharing ideas. Our classroom is ever changing as projects and learning experiences emerge from the interests of students.
There is a consistent emphasis on treating others with kindness, consideration and respect. Children learn the importance of listening, empathy, and working together.
Springwater Preschool is an independently operated program on the campus of Springwater Environmental Sciences School (SESS). We were designed in collaboration with Springwater School to provide early learning experiences for 3-5 year olds in the community. The 2018-2019 school year marks our tenth year of serving preschoolers and their families. This class is staffed by two teachers, Stephanie and Tina, with a maximum of 16 students.
